PERSONAL MEDICAL JOURNAL

This is an HTTPS secure site.

NO names. are given re those giving me, directly or indirectly DENYING me  medical assistance.

ALL I do, is supply MY health and well being FACTS, what transpired especially recently re the lack of VITAL BLOOD RESULTS continues to be shocking.

I did a lot of preliminary assessment when it came to deciding on what POWERED WHEELCHAIR to pick.

The conclusion that one could say ‘sealed the deal’ was to take these factors into play.

1. It had to be easy to take on public transport re BUS, COACH, TRAIN et

2. Easy to SHIFT into the space provided with the least of issues..

3. If needed to be FOLDED or COLLAPSED into a tighter space where normal wheelchair space is limited or non existent.

4. A cover or carrying case for ie luggage storage OR ie COACH storage areas.

6. ONE battery gives me 9 miles..
I wanted it to have TWO to enable me over 18 miles .. That cost me extra but I consider that to be essential.

7. STORAGE on the wheelchair.. I can use the back AND other places to use already provided OR add ons.

8. INSURANCE indemnity and that includes also BREAKDOWN = TRANSPORT if I need it for the Wheel chair to be picked up when and if it becomes impossible for whatever reason to be moved.

9. INSURANCE  re THEFT protection,  WANTON VANDALISM etc.

10 Etched security labels. Detection devices that allow app to track the device.

11 Mobile POUCH for the transport of the joystick power controller that can be removed from the wheelchair leaving it immobilised.

12 Alarm system that triggers if the item is moved ie attempted theft.

13 Drinks holders - essential.

14 REVERSING alarm.

15 Horn buzzer slightly LOUDER than the one provided for situations that would require it.

16 Additional COVERS re SEATING
BACK REST.. ARMS..

17 A WATERPROOF WINDPROOF all year round personal ‘clothing’
Carried at all times..

18 MEDICAL EMERGENCY PACK.

19 WARNING and ADVISORY LABELS
including This wheelchair is a PRIVATELY OWNED PERSONAL PROPERTY of the OWNER and is NOT NHS or a MOBILITY NHS provided device.

That is to stop NHS staff in hospital / medical centres thinking they can take YOUR wheelchair YOUR property and use it for other ie patients! and YES it has been known to happen !

AMBULANCES for emergency re A and E will not carry your wheel chair. Even IF they fold down like this.. That I think the rules have to change..
